Today’s reflection is on the word Overcome.
I found a great quote in the bible that defines the meaning of overcome perfectly:
“Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”
During the seven years I spent at StarShine as principal, I met students and parents who had overcome many obstacles in their lives. The students who attended StarShine lived in a world filled with challenges and crises. Most of the families had overcome losing their homes, jobs, and loved ones, but they always managed to conquer the challenge with good. There were times when I sat in my office talking with parents and kids and I became overwhelmed with their grief. But, I watched the strength in their eyes and their resolve and knew these families would be fine. These incredible families would not let evil overcome them, but would overcome the evil with good.
