There is nothing worse than finding yourself in an unfamiliar situation where everyone is standing and you are sitting, or vice versa.
Here is a short list of when to do what:
When to stand –
§ When an older person enters a room
§ At a wedding when the bride comes down the aisle
§ When shaking hands
§ During a salute to the flag
§ When being introduced to someone
§ When the Star Spangled Banner is played
In future posts I will discuss sitting, bowing and kneeling.
Until then, remember you need to practice good etiquette to be able to meet demanding social situations with confidence.
