Today’s post is part one of a two part post about StarShine’s celebration of the 11 Days of Peace. Every year from September 11 through September 21, the International Day of Peace, StarShine celebrates the 11 Days of Peace.
During of the 10 days there is a special focus:
· Day 1 - Agricultural and Gardening Sustainability
· Day 2 - Education and Financial Literacy
· Day 3 - Health and Healing
· Day 4 - Cultural Exchange
· Day 5 - Water Day
· Day 6 - Ecology and Ecotourism
· Day 7 - Recycling
· Day 8 - Local Music and Art
· Day 9 - Respect for all & Self Well Being
· Day 10 - International Day of Peace
The 11 Days of Peace celebration includes speakers, festivals, field trips, projects (by class and by the entire school) and integration of each day into that day’s curriculum. All events are open to the public, and on those days the campuses have more guests than usual.
The purpose of the days’ activities are to enlighten the students on what’s happening in the world in each of these areas, and empower them to realize their individual ability to make a significant impact. It’s also an opportunity to utilize fun speakers and interactive projects to educate them on each of these areas, as well as gain their interest in each of the day’s significance.
If you are at a StarShine school in Phoenix, Santa Fe, Liberia or Sudan or in a school in any other part of the world join us in celebrating the 11 Days of Peace.
“Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.”
