You never know when you are going to meet a new friend or
re-discover an old one.
A few weeks ago as part of the move, Trish McCarty and I
walked around the neighborhood surrounding the school to meet the neighbors.
When a new school moves in it’s important to welcome everyone and invite the neighbors
to be part of the school. At StarShine, we feel the school is part of the community
and we want any business or neighbor to feeling comfortable when they visit our
school. We believe that schools exist for the students and for their families
and the surrounding community, including young children, retirees and
businesses in the neighborhood.
Greg lives next door to the school property with his mother,
and has for the last 50 or so years. During our first meeting, Greg mentioned
that he had attended and graduated from East High School in Phoenix. East was
my high school alma mater also. We had a wonderful conversation about our high
school years. Greg even brought out a yearbook and we looked at old photos of
us. We both laughed at how we had changed.
Here is a photo of us as adults.
Since meeting Greg three weeks ago, he has worked on the
property to assist us with the move almost every day, including working through
the Christmas holidays and helping to repair a water leak. He even pulled out
an old dead tree for us.
Thanks Greg for all your help and support of StarShine
Academy!
