When Did Bugs Bunny Debut?

What’s Up Doc?

Today, April 30, we celebrate Bugs Bunny’s Debut, that wonderfully funny rabbit that always has a carrot in his paws, but never seems to eat it.

Did you know that you can buy Bugs Bunny wallpaper, clip art, or a Bugs Bunny coloring book? There are several variations of the original Bugs Bunny here are a few:  Gansta Bugs Bunny, Hip-Hop Bugs Bunny, Basketball Bugs Bunny and Baby Bugs Bunny.

Bugs Bunny is almost as old as I am. He was created in 1930 at Leon Schlesinger Productions, later Warner Brothers Cartoons. He has primarily appeared in animated cartoons such as Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies, a series of theatrical short films. Bugs Bunny’s original voice was that of Mel Blanc. He had two significant “others” – Miss Lola Bunny and Miss Honey Bunny.

Bugs Bunny even won an Academy Award for “Knightly Knight Bugs” in 1958. In addition, he was nominated twice for “A Wild Hare” in 1940 and “Hiawatha’s Rabbit Hunt” in 1941.

Would someone please e-mail Jan and tell her not to hand important dates like this off to me? I’m going a little bit nuts writing about pencils, umbrellas, Monopoly, egg salad and rabbits.
