Friendship is an interesting word and one I give great value.
Everyone has friends. Some people have hundreds of friends. Just check out
Facebook. Some people have a few cherished friends. And... most people are
somewhere in between.
“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
However, true friendship is a different thing. True
friendship means standing by someone when they struggle and when they fly. I
have many friends, but I have found that I also have a small, close group of
friends. They are my true friendships. I value those friendships. I know that
the people in the circle of my true friendships will always be there for me;
whether I need them late at night, weekends or early in the morning, they are
ready to lend a helping hand, ready to give me support when it’s needed.
“It is the friends you can call at 4 a.m. that matter.” Marlene Dietrich
Additionally, I look forward to making new friends. I had the
opportunity to attend a training last week for educators, to help us improve our
teaching skills when instructing students who are learning English as a second
language. The training consists of 3 days last week, 2 days this week and 2
days the following week. At the end of last week, I had the pleasure of making
new friends with several of the teachers attending the training. I am looking
forward to meeting with them again this week.
“To attract good fortune, spend a new penny on an old friend, share an
old pleasure with a new friend and lift up the heart of a true friend by
writing his name on the wings of a dragon.”
Chinese Proverb
