Be careful ‘Boomers’!
I recently found an
interesting statistic on joint replacement. It seems as though ‘Baby Boomers’
are having joint surgery to maintain their active life styles. This is an
Arizona study.
Statistics for knee replacements:
In 2000, there were 5,969 knee replacements.
In 2010, there were 15,133 knee replacements.
Statistics for hip
replacements:
In 2000, there were 4,974 hip replacements.
In 2010, there were 9,545 hip replacements.
The article I read suggested that the increase may be due to working
‘Boomers’ exercising too hard on the weekends.
My husband had 2 knee replacements when he was in his 70’s
and I had one in my 80’s. This is pretty common among people our age.
Be very careful
‘Boomers’ . It seems to me you are way too young to need joint replacements.
